So lately I've been feeling a lot like my journal is just me whingeing about things that I can't help. I guess that's partly what journals are for, but it's pitifully boring for anyone else to read. SO, I've decided to decorate this space with things that are interesting and sort of relevant to boot!! Woo!! Stoked? Yes?? Ready to get nerdy!?

I'm studying for my Aquatic Ecology lab final (even though it isn't until 1.5 weeks from now, which I think makes me the nerdiest of nerds around). There's one genus of blue-green algae (phylum Cyanophyta) called Anacystis, and it's hella cool because it's so tiny that it vibrates from water molecules' Brownian motion! As in, these little dudes are so small that they get knocked around by water molecules. COOL! I really love biology because of stuff like that... someone told me once that bio is just an application of chemistry, and chemistry is just an application of physics... well, that may be true, and maybe I'm not as hardcore as a physicist, but so what? I love biology, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

There's some things that I just know will never change... I can call it whatever I want, but deep down it lives in me, I breathe it in, I just am what I am. I know it in my bones...

Yay for biology!

Yay for Cyanophyta! Don't you love how algal classification keeps changing? First they were blue-green algae, then bacteria, and I think they're back to algae now, or else they've been split into two classes. I don't really know. :)
